How do I pay, and when is payment due?
We accept M-Pesa, cash and bank transfer. A deposit of at least one night's accommodation secures your reservation. The remaining payment is agreed directly with us. We'll share the payment instructions when confirming your stay.
How far is the Busia border, and how do I get here from Kisumu, Nairobi or Kampala?
The Busia border crossing is about a five-minute drive from Wangs BnB, depending on traffic. That's the drive to the crossing, not the time needed for border formalities. Tanaka Hospital and St. Elizabeth Specialist Hospital are nearby landmarks. Coming from Kisumu, Nairobi or Kampala? Search for Wangs BnB, Busia, Kenya in Google Maps and check the route from your starting point before setting off.
What are the check-in and checkout times?
Check-in is from 3:00 PM and checkout is by 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late checkout can be arranged directly with us.
Can I check in late or leave luggage after checkout?
Yes. Late check-in and luggage storage after checkout are available at no extra charge, with no fixed time limit. Share your arrival time or luggage collection plans with us so we can arrange your welcome and handover.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes. For reservations made directly with Wangs BnB, we offer free cancellation until 24 hours before your scheduled check-in, with a full refund of any accommodation payments made. If you don't arrive and haven't cancelled, the first night's charge will be retained. For reservations made through Airbnb or Booking.com, the cancellation terms shown in your booking confirmation apply.
Can I change my reservation dates?
Yes. For reservations made directly with Wangs BnB, you may request one date change without an administrative fee by notifying us at least 24 hours before check-in, subject to availability. If the new dates have a higher accommodation rate, you'll pay the difference. If the rate is lower, your booking total will be adjusted accordingly. Changes requested within 24 hours of check-in are considered on a case-by-case basis. For bookings made through Airbnb or Booking.com, the respective platform's change policies apply.
Is the Wi-Fi suitable for working?
We provide free, fast Wi-Fi to keep you connected during your stay. If your work depends on frequent video calls or large uploads, tell us before booking so we can discuss your connection needs. We don't guarantee a particular speed or an uninterrupted connection.
What happens if the power or water goes off?
Solar backup powers the whole apartment during grid outages. A borehole provides a reliable water supply for showers, washing up and everyday use. If you notice a problem with either supply during your stay, let our team know so we can help.
Is the area safe to walk in at night?
Wangs BnB is in a secure setting, with security at the property. For an evening out, check with us about your route and transport options. We recommend taking sensible precautions after dark rather than assuming every nearby street is suitable for walking.
Is there CCTV, and how is guest privacy protected?
Yes. CCTV is used for safety in exterior areas only. Cameras are positioned outside the apartments and do not point towards the apartments or into their interiors. There are no CCTV cameras inside the apartments, so your indoor space remains private.
Can I arrange a longer stay?
Planning to stay a little longer? Send us your dates and number of guests on WhatsApp, and we'll check availability and give you a quote for the full stay. You'll have your own kitchen for everyday meals, and towels and bedding can be changed on request during longer stays.
Are there hospitals nearby?
Yes. Tanaka Hospital and St. Elizabeth Specialist Hospital are nearby. It's useful to know where they are when planning your stay; contact the hospital directly for current services and opening hours.
Is there somewhere nearby for drinks or a night out?
Didi's Lounge is nearby if you'd like to head out for drinks or enjoy Busia's nightlife.
